Adieu et merci beaucoup, Mr Juvet
It is with great sadness that the FIFA Master Alumni family receives the news of the passing away of Mr Jean Louis Juvet, former president of the CIES, on the 1st May, at the age of 86.
Mr Juvet, a former Economics professor at the University of Neuchatel, was instrumental for the creation of the International Master in Management, Law and Humanities of Sport, (the FIFA Master). Mr Juvet’s foresight brought him to propose the idea of such course to Joseph Blatter, then Secretary General at FIFA. “I didn’t know Sepp Blatter at the time, but I saw him speaking about football administration at the University and I decided to contact him. He met with me and I proposed a joint venture between universities”.
Mr Juvet has been known for his energy, enthusiasm and commitment. “I believe a President must be involved at every level (of the administration)”, he said at an interview in 2008. And the students and alumni under his administration always appreciated his personal touch and belief in all of us. “He always showed concern towards the situation of each student, and many times got personally involved in order to try to help them to secure jobs after they graduated”, says Joao Frigerio, alumnus from the 5th edition of the FIFA Master.
To recognise his outstanding work and constant support, in 2006 the FIFA Master Alumni made Mr Juvet our first Honorary Member, and in 2009, the FMA created a Scholarship Fund named after him.
Mr Juvet leaves his wife, Mrs Madeleine Juvet, three children and four grandchildren.
The funeral will take place at rue de la Collégiale 3, 2000 Neuchatel, on Thursday, 4th May at 10am.
Rest in Peace, Mr Juvet.
